Reasons to Fall in Love with Autumn

September is here, and that means summer is coming to a close, and that means autumn is right around the corner. While many people love the freedom and weather summer has to offer, or the reprieve from the cold and beautiful colors spring provides, one of the more underappreciated seasons is autumn.

There’s a lot to love about the autumn season—the bright vibrant colors of the leaves, the cool, yet manageable temperatures that allow you to get cozy in your favorite sweater in front of a fire with a warm drink.

Below is a list of reasons why you should embrace autumn (besides the return of every basic person’s favorite drink—the pumpkin-spiced latte).

Changing Weather

While winter is loathed (or loved?) for its cold temperatures, summer is often embraced for its heat. However, for certain people, especially those living in southern locations with warmer climates, the summer often goes a little overboard with the heat.

Some places can feel like it’s 1,000 degrees—and it an get so hot, it’s impossible to do anything other than sit in front of a fan, or hide out in whatever building offers air conditioning.

One of the great things about autumn is the return of manageable temperatures. The days are warm enough that you can often wear a single, short-sleeved shirt, and the nights are just cool enough that a warm sweater is the perfect amount of coziness.

Additionally, it provides a certain level of ambience as the leaves begin changing color and the streets are lined with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows, while the sidewalks are covered in crunchy leaves you can’t wait to pile together and dive into.

Sports Fans Rejoice

During the late summer months, it can be tough to be a sports fan, as the majority of the most popular leagues are on hiatus. However, the good news is autumn means the return of the big four.

There aren’t many times during the year when all four of the big-four American sports are happening at the same time, but that brief moment of overlap does occur in the fall, During a brief period of time in the fall, sports fans can attend a baseball, basketball, football, or hockey game all in the same week (or perhaps, if you’re really brave, the same day).

It’s a great time to be a sports fan, as there are plenty of games to watch—either in the comfort of your own home, out at a bar with friends, or even at the stadium itself!

Pumpkin-Spiced Everything

Another mark of the return of autumn is the return of everything pumpkin-spiced. From coffees to desserts such as cakes and muffins, to even breakfast staples such as waffles—fans of pumpkin-spice can rejoice as September approaches because that means their favorite flavor is making its triumphant return.

However, there are plenty of other great autumn foods to enjoy, including pumpkin pie, apple cider, caramel apples, roasted squash, and plenty of others.
