Dress Up or Down in a Jumpsuit

Dress Up or Down in a Jumpsuit

Jumpsuits are in this year, and no wonder. They are versatile and complimentary to any body type.

A jumpsuit is a one-piece garment with a blouse or shirt that has attached pants, so If you usually wear pants, jumpsuits are an easy way to update your wardrobe.

If worn with heels it will make you taller and slimmer, and a wide leg will compliment pear shaped bodies.

The best part is that all the planning for what you are going to wear has already been done. And they can work with what you have in your wardrobe. You can dress up or down, and wear them with everything from sneakers to booties.

There are so many things you can do with them to change up your looks. Here are 5 ways you can wear your jumpsuit or enhance it so you can look cutting edge in any situation:

1. Formal

When everyone else is wearing a predictable dress, go to your formal occasion in a jumpsuit. Make sure it is sleek and well-tailored, with minimal jewellery.

2. Casual

Look great in the comfort of a relaxed fit, with materials such as cotton and denim. Find a silhouette that is complimentary and suits your style. A good place to start is a jumpsuit with a loose fit and an elasticized or drawstring waist.

3. Belts

Belts are flattering because they define your waist. Even if the jumpsuit is already fitted at the waist, a belt will help you appear slimmer and give more of an hourglass shape.

A belt in a contrasting color breaks up the straight line of your jumpsuit and gives it a new dimension. A good choice is to match the contrasting belt with shoes to give a well put together look.

4. Jewelry

As bold as a jumpsuit can be, it can sometime be a little plain without accessories like jewelry.

It is best to choose jewelry that will stand out, like a chunky necklace or large earrings. Traditional materials like gold or silver for formal wear, and fun, colorful jewelry for casual wear.

5. Footwear

Jumpsuits can pull the eye downward, making you appear shorter, especially the wide leg and low-waisted ones.

To combat this, you can wear high heels or wedge heels with a jumpsuit to lengthen the legs and make you appear taller. Try slim heels instead of chunky ones to keep the look long.

If you plan to wear flats, pick a cropped style boot, sandal or sneakers that come up to the ankle or slightly above the ankles to create balance and give a look of length and slimness.

Keep footwear in mind when you buy your jumpsuit, so that the length is appropriate with heels or flats. If you plan to wear your jumpsuit mostly with heels, make sure to wear the heels when shopping so that you know the length is right, or that you’ll get them hemmed. Same thing for flats.

Be bold, and try different ways to wear your jumpsuit!
